Just for you DaveH....Do you want to HEAR and FEEL 4 Rolls Royce Griffon V12 supercharged engines running on a 1956 AVRO SHACKLETON MK III?
The Horley branch of the Royal Air Force Association and Gatwick Aviation Museum are firing up their Shackelton's engines to celebrate 90th.Anniversary of the RAF on the 30th March 2008, at Charlwood, Surrey RH6 0BT. (up the road to me!)
Pictures on My site halfway down, also the link to the Gatwick Aviation Museum.Thats right, EIGHT props....24 cylinders.....and I wont be parking that close!

The other question is does a coaxial contra-rotating propeller count as one or two propellers? ;D Of course you could always park around the back. I don't care if I don't get any biscuits as I'm on a diet

Soumd like a great day out not sure the kids think so but I hope to go.
How many of us have gibson girls and should we take them to fly as a display, something we could ask Big John about for the easter fly as well as that is an old RAF base.

There is now a Government petition in support of Vulcan XH558. petitions.pm.gov.uk/VulcanToTheSky/If you love watching restored aircraft in the sky where they should be, then please take five minutes to sign this petition. If it gets 200 signatures then it gets on the PM's desk. If it gets more than that all the better. It closes on march 21st so please hurry. You will get an email afterwards asking you to confirm your signature. You will need to click on the link in that email for your name to be added. Thanks in advance, Greenman

Update, Vulcan 558 is airborne again. Yesterday she flew to Cottesmore for a compass check. She is due to fly back to Brutingthorpe on Wednesday if all goes well. If you live up that way listen out for her. They had a heart stopping moment yesterday early in the flight when an indicator showed a fire on board. A Mayday was called But quickly canceled. As far as we can tell all is well. i will update again when i get more info. All still looking good for Eastbourne Airborne ;D Cheers, Greenman
