And the invite works both ways, drop in anytime and if anyone wants to camp (not free!) your all more than welcome.

Nice one Greenman!
That satellite image must have been taken years ago though....it only slightly resembles that now, the lake has been enlarged and the excavated earth piled into a huge mound that is grassed now and hides the railway line from the site (not shown) there is a rally field (not shown) another landscaped camping area (not shown) and an even bigger lake up the hill (not shown)
It should be a good weekend and if we impress the site owner I think HE will be ASKING US to go back again!?
Collin ps. how do we stop rhw waking up the campers with her laughter? Dont tell her I said that.

Quick update, as I emailed Sumners Pond today 1st.August:
Hi Jenny, Sorry for the delay as I was trying to get as many of our members involved but due to the recent bad weather many of them have sat on the fence but may still turn up on the weekend. I have verbally confirmed our attendance with Simon last week, now just confirming it in writing! I have about ten units confirmed at present, number of people approximately twenty 25. I am hoping to be the first to arrive on Friday 3rd.August around midday and would like to have the edge of the rally field away from the ponds, I think that's nearer the loos and showers. Looking forward to a relaxing weekend! Kind regards, Collin 07747 7345
Reply received 2nd.August:
Hi Collin Looking forward to seeing you too! We have a really busy camp site this weekend and we have had to let other campers use the 'Rally Field' but we will make sure that you get the pitches next to the track and nearest to the loos. We will allow for approx 10 units for you. During the day it would be a good idea to suggest that your people use the Loos in the Fisherman's car park (close by to your pitches) and only use the camp site block for showering etc. I hope this is ok for you to pass this on to them. See you on Friday. Kind regards Jenny Ireland Sumners Ponds 01403 732539

THANKYOU EVERYBODY, what a fantastic weekend in every way. Good company, good weather, good flying, good crack! It was dependent on people coming to make it work and thanks to you guys it did and more! I think we all agreed that those who missed it was 'Their Loss' and had they come they would have had a relaxed and casual weekend break in the glorious sunshine, in a superb location with good facilities that we were all lucky enough to enjoy. Participating FRIENDS were:- Les
- Dave & Irene
- Sabrina & Toni
- Kevin & Linda
- Simon & Corinneh, Charlotte/DM
- John & Janet
- Dave & Tracie, Rhiannon
- Chris,Jamie, Niamh
- Alan & Dorothy
- Barry & Janet
It was not a cheap weekend, fees ranged from £27 for Les to £46.50 for me, made up of how many people in a 'unit'. HOWEVER thanks to the above intrepid trail blazers who paid the price, we will in future be charged only £7 per night per 'unit' regardless of numbers!!! Catch is we would not be entitled to use the showers.
I have to further thank you all for the impressive display of Kite flying, sometimes we forget not everyone has seen such an awesome sight. We played to an appreciative audience for a change instead of the nonchalant ones at a kite festival. The Campers enjoyed it and more importantly the site owner enjoyed it and now realizes a Kite (Manta) can be 'bigger than his island' .... we never put the even larger Octopus up either! Because of our efforts, Simon, the site Owner has now said we CAN use the BIG field up the hill to CAMP in, all in agreement it was a PERFECT location for us and what we do?
Huge thanks to Simon and Corrineh for lugging the club trailer here and putting in a superhuman effort in getting Manta & Teddy up to 750 feet!! I do think we all take him for granted, what would it have been like without his enthusiasm and commitment? (Apart from peaceful!)
SO....to answer the "Where do we go to better this" and "More of the same please" who's up for this and when?coming soon... [/color]
