Sadly my dear friend David Davies Designer of The Sky Dancer four line kite passed away yesterday evening after losing a mercifully short battle against cancer, his wife Sue told me tonight that he went peacfully without pain at the end,i will miss him terribly as will many of the club members who knew him and the wider kiting community keep on danceing David.

I am so sorry to hear that, Les. I met David on a number of occasions before buying my Swift from him, and I always found him such a nice person to talk to. My condolences to his family. I must be getting old, the number of people that I have met throughout my life that are passing away.

Sad news indeed. I know David was a very, very close friend of yours Les, my sympathies to you mate. Please pass on my condolences to Sue and her family.
Through your introduction I had the pleasure to deal with David on several occasions and found him a very like able chap who always took the time to chat and pass on his knowledge. It was Sabrina's birthday on October 27th. exactly a year ago he built her that unique ' Sky Flame ' as a birthday present, and they both talked on the phone for ages, what a nice man. It will be a sad experience when next it is flown... I will remember him saying " Enjoy it Sabrina, and give it some stick".
I also know he didn't want a fuss and kept his ill health private and known only to those close to him, thoughtful of others. His legacy will live on through his contribution to kiting and some splendid, unique kites. If there anything I can do please PM me.

That news quite knocked me for six; I had only thought a couple of days ago that I should ask how he was getting on. The dealings I had with him when I bought my SkyDancer were a pleasure. Flying the kite has given me so much fun that I had been wishing I could get an opportunity to thank him personally - now I never will.
Please pass on my condolences.

It was with much sadness I heard the news that David had passed away so soon after hearing he was ill.
I will always remember fondly the times over many years I had met up with David, each and every one a pleasure. Every meeting was also a great source of knowledge as David was ever willing to share all he could about his kites.
Sadly missed but never forgotten.

They were great, thanks for that: there were many designs in the first one that I have never seen before.

I came across those because someone asked me on another forum what the image I had in my signature was (it's the same image I've just made my avatar on here); so I went searching for a video (I thought it would explain better than words) and stumbled upon them.
(Incidently Kathryn took the avatar picture)
