Hi ya - Carole-Anne and I are going to do it - "Abseil that is" -
I only recently found out that i am scared of heights - and it happend on the London Eye... One revolution of Gripping the seats in the middle and with my eyes closed, heart pounding and screaming to myself were going to die.......
whilst my Son stood at the edge going "Hey dad look over there i can see your office"...... i was as white as a ghost and it took nearly three hours to get my colour back...
Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Hi Bryan & CA... PMSL laughing at your above post! I spent ages looking for your previous post saying 'Hi'...cant find it but Hi, nice to see you on here!
Probably PMS on the edge of the cliff too, one thing though, can you go first so that I can see if turning 'white as a ghost' would suit me?

The Hennesseys are good for a £10 but will split it over the 4 of you that we know who are jumping:-
Tina - CA - Bryan - Collin so you can add £2.50 to your total Collin and if one or two of the others drop out a bit more.

Just returned from the Jolly up at Basingstoke, a further £70 was added to the collection for the Appeal, details to follow, but I just wanted to confirm what NorfolfDick advises me to do as I'm not sure....
He has done all kinds of weird stuff in his time in the Army and Abseiling was one of them. His advice is:
You will be provided with safety equipment, advised how to use it, so put it on. Stand on the edge of the cliff, facing out, arms outstretched, and confidently jump while outstretching limbs to form a star pattern. Count 1000, 2000, 3000.....with your left hand , reach the handle on right breast pocket area, of your safety equipment (if you forgot to put it on, you will feel a right tit) and pull the handle located there, this will assure you land OK.
Thank you Dick, does everyone agree with his advice, I dont want to hurt myself.....

upon leaping off the cliff you must shout Geronimo,if you forget to do this when they scrape you up and put you in a bag they will hear a ghostly voice saying ,what was the name of that indian?

Collin, Alternatively you could do it Niagara style. You climb into a barrel (having drunk the content first). get a friend to put the lid on tightly. Then said friend pushes you and barrel over the edge. This saves on all that expensive safety equipment. & I'm sure Manky B & others will help you with the contents.
;D ;D ;D

Quick update on THIS SUNDAYS 'Falling with Style' after the Club fly in on Telscome Tye. Talking of 'Styles' I have heard from Tina and she has booked everything, Brian (he's been unusually quiet recently, sickie coming up?) and CA are still up for it.We have been allocated a time of 16.30. Location to the Drop Off Point Cliff edge is by following the A259 out of Brighton to Peacehaven. Go through Peacehaven, then as the road bends to the left, there will be a petrol garage and a garden centre on your right. Turn down the dirt track. There is a small parking area on the left, and street parking along The Highway. Walk down the footpath (by the barrier) to the Abseil site. If I am not there please start without me.Collected ONLY from fellow KITERS I have a TOTAL of £388.80 and sincerely THANK each and every one of you for your support and charitable donations to the Anthony Nolan Trust.Current total as of Saturday 06/09/2008 is £532.80

Good luck for Sunday.
We had planned on coming down to see you do it in person, but I have been called upon to collect my sister in-law from Heathrow airport on Sunday morning and then ferry her to Luton airport for flight to Belfast.

Well this is IT!! Thank you everyone that wished me ‘Good Luck, by text, phone, and postings on here today…..were you all really CHECKING that I was still around???
I was researching Abseiling on U-Tube this morning and came up with tips from this guy…I have no idea what he is saying but his apprehension (although smiling for the camera) made me feel like I was not going to enjoy today much!!!
There MAY be an additional ‘Jumper’…keep an eye out for her….
RAISED A TOTAL OF £538 to be handed to the Anthony Nolan Fund today….Thanks to most of you lot….. I suppose the final word before I leave should be:
- G - E - R - O - N - I - M - Ooooo......
