I have just had my regular email update from Lidl and note that their offers for next Thursday (22 nd November) include both Ski and Snowboard bags. At £4.99 and £6.99 respectively they make great cheap kite bags. I have the snowboard bag which I bought last year, the double ended zip goes around the top and down most of one side, the handles mean it can be carried as hand bag, shoulder bag or backpack, plus there are internal straps to secure your snowboard kites. The external pocket is great for gloves, small reels etc, whilst external loops allow me to clip-on my strato-spools and dog kite stakes.

Always up for a bargin I went in and picked up a couple of skiKite bags from Lidls this morning. Basically they are 210 x 19 x 18cm holdalls with a zip running the full length. They also have some interesting external velco straps which are either for strapping over the zip or for strapping two bags together. The nearest equivalent kite bag I can find is the HQ one from Kiteworld at £14.98, however the ski bags are 30m longer, have no internal pockets and are only £4.99.

Sorry to hear you missed the bags, it pays to register on the Lidl website and get a twice weekly email update on what they will be having on special offer the following week, and then to get in the store early. Maybe my local store gets allocated more because Xscape Milton Keynes is not that far away. A couple of years ago I managed to get Bon-bon an Eichhorn 81 piece wooden train set for £9.99 (you pay twice that just for the train elsewhere), it was the last one and the shop had only been open 25min. May is a good time as well, this year in their sailing/diving week they were selling sets of 10 stainless steel carabines for the same price you would pay for a single one at a chandlers. At the moment they have also got their xmas food in so I've stocked up on frozen goose (4.2kg £14.99) for xmas and duckings @ £4.99 for crispy duck pancakes. Plus a good few bottles of their Gluwine ;D

I was fortunate enough to have a friend (yes I have one) who is a member and saw the posting and acquired a ski-kitebag for me from the Eastbourne store. What a superb bag...and a bargain price too. Thanks friend (not that a good a friend as it wasn't FREE)
This Mondays visit to Lidls will probably see me make another fairly Unnecessary Purchase again!
Come in handy for spotting those overhead power cables, come to think of it I cant see them during the day anyway??

Leng wants me to go in and buy one of these for her and Bon-bon, but I reckon we should get one of these. The last time we went to the Philippines you could pick up the same thing for less than £100. We bought one for Leng's Aunts silver wedding present and I regret not buying one for ourselves. Still if we don't make it out there again next year there are plently of friends and relatives who will.
