i'm trying to find a good place to fly my power kite which is easily accessable from central brighton (Hanover) by bus or on foot obviously, as i will spend quite a lot of time being dragged along on my arse, somewhere with no rocks, bushes or rabbit holes. Thanks Chris

Hi Chris,
You would have thought that the best place to ask would be a local kite club, luckily you have one of the biggest in the country right near you!
Hey ho...unluckily they must all be hibernating?
I live in Crawley and don't really know the area, all I can think of is Stanmer Park, near the University, just past Hollingbury and Coldean on the A27 going towards Lewes....

sorry for not answering but we have been a bit busy with our bonfire stuff with it being the 5th stanmer is a good place to start good bus route 25 take you to the uni down side being in a dip wind can be a bit hit and miss you cold try wild park again good bus route 24 25 but again it is surrounded by trees and also just across the road is moulscombe but it is flattish the only other place i can think of is the top of the race course on the road that leads to the tip i have seen people up there before but have not gone there myself so I'm not sure what the ground is like but it is very open so you should get a steady wind

I've seen quite a few people flying power kites south of the railway near the airport at Shoreham Google map

Please note - the Shorhem Rec Ground mentioned above is NOT a suitable site to fly. As it boarders an active airport. As a club we have been apporached by Shorham Airport to discourage anyone from flying there.
Try the top of the Racecourse overlooking Whitehawk - bit bumpy but plenty of wind. Or take the bus (77) out to Devils Dyke.

Of course there is a perectly good beach to the east of the Palace Pier, if the wind is in a safe direction. What, you mean you dont know where Palace Pier is

It is very well used - you can see the kites from the A27 as you cross the Adur bridge. I stopped off once to watch the people flying and there were no signs or anything to discourage people.
