I would like thank those that entered this competition, and a special thanks to Don Baggett for judging, never and enviable task... The conditions were pretty bad, with the wind strong and very gusty, which meant that several KISS class sleds either were damaged, or unable to fly successfully, so congratulations to newcomer Andy Scott, who took Best Flier in that class. Full results are: Best Flier KISS class: Andy Scott Best Flier Open class: Guy Reynolds Most Original Design: Guy Reynolds Prettiest: Roy Martin Best Overall: Roy Martin (using a kite that won in August 2012). Because of the continuing interest, SLED competition will be back in April 2014. Do you want any other classes? Do you want any different awards? Please post on this thread: www.kiteweekenders.proboards.com/thread/2294/sled-6?page=1&scrollTo=14419I'm sorry that a few people missed the competition, but I published the times it was to take place here on June 20, and a poster was put up in the marquee on Friday. *NEW* X-PRIZE!!!
There was light-hearted discussion during scrutineering about the possibility of a 10-foot wide sled flying, as there is no width limit in the rules. So I am offering a £10 one-off prize to the first person to fly a half-meter long sled TEN FEET WIDE wing tip to wing tip when flat (I love mixing units, just to confuse people!) for a minimum of one minute. Please note that it MUST conform to the normal Open class rules. I will not be eligible to enter, and I will judge this, whether I am judging the normal SLED competition or not. When the flight is to take place is up to the flier, to take advantage of suitable wind conditions for their kite, except that it must take place during a Jolly Up, and I must be in attendance. There will be a repeat of these conditions when I start the SLED 7 thread, but any comments/questions/discussion are welcome on this thread until then: www.kiteweekenders.proboards.com/thread/2294/sled-6?page=1&scrollTo=14419
