Greetings, Not another posting in praise of that old relic the Vulcan! You wouldn’t be so keen if you lived here and had to regularly put up with its noisy smoky old engines over your house when you were lying on your sun bed reading the latest edition of the Kite flyer. Last week was terrible with the Lowestoft air show and all the old flying crocks stopping off at RAF Marham just a few miles away for their families day! The planes did not confine themselves to Marham but all decided to do a lap of my town and upset me! There was the time when I was invited each year to Marham but I think they might have finally got the message that I would sooner eat broken glass and gargle with sulphuric acid! And just a few miles the other way there is of course Mildenhall and Lakenheath where it used to be my painful duty to regularly attend; it never ceased to amaze me when a conversation was interrupted by an aircraft flying overhead to be told (in a southern USA accent) ‘’That son is the sound of freedom’’ ............. I did not like to say that the Cambodians probably did not think that was the case! Any way just to prove to you what I have to endure, here is a link created by an aerorak to the junk that fly’s over my house! forums.airshows.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=13599&p=139310Regards Aerolovers Dick

Dick, At least you have the ability to move away from these distubances to your life. When The British Heart Foundation impose their london to Brighton Bike ride on us, i cannot leave or get back to my house after 7am in the morning. The council stop the busses & the BHF do gooders have the road outside my house closed for the day. "Wow, so its only one day a year" they all scream at me. Well next year its not. Now they are going to hold a maraton run in Brighton. Guess who's road they are going to close!! Yep, another day that i am to be falsely imprisoned. He,ho. I think i will buy myself some tickets to Shoreham Air Show for the weekend of 22nd, 23rd August, just to cheer my self up. Cheers,

no i don't remember Hiroshima Nagasaki i was not around in the war. planes of the Vulcan's era may put a shudder down your backs and maybe rightly so but to me and people like me we appreciate them for what they do for us now ( because we know no different) they put on a great show of sound the vibrations are great for the hard of hearing like me i cant get enough of that raw and there flying ability that we thankfully see at air shows. ;D it also educates children such as what sounds they make the different shapes what they look like big luv
