Due to pests pestering and demanding asking for a longer spell at Sumners Ponds I have managed to book the top field from Wednesday 12th. to Monday 17th. August. All welcome, relax and enjoy doing what ever takes your fancy over several days for a change to the normal weekender!

I am on my way to Sumners Ponds at 6pm Wednesday. Not everyone attending has been before hence this repetition of the location:
Sumners Ponds Campsite, Chapel Road, Barnes Green, Horsham, West Sussex, RH13 0PR. OS Grid Ref: TQ 121 272
Shame to be missing the air show at Eastbourne, but I did try to get THEM to come to US!!! ;D ;D ;DFrom: CRN Station-RAF Events Team Events & Concepts 1 To: 'Collin Marshall' Sent: Tuesday, August 11, 2009 9:27 AM Subject: FLY PAST IN AUGUST.
Hi C2LLN, I'm sorry but we require a minimum of 8 weeks notice for a Red Arrows flypast, but it is noted and should we passing that location, you never know! For your information the team will be operating from Manston for the Eastbourne Airshow.

Greetings,
Is there no escape! A 144 mile drive south to Sumners Ponds to be informed that those Non- Coms AKA The Red Arrows may be disrupting our kite flying. They will certainly veer off if they see Collins Asda Delta, any sign of anything in the air and they abort!
We are short of airpower in Afghanistan and our finest air to ground attack aircraft (against ground troops) are stripped of their weaponry painted Red and flown around the Sussex countryside. I hope that makes sense to somebody, but I fail to see the logic!
Never mind , enjoy the display and think that the alternative could be they might be saving the life of a young soldier in a far off land! Regards Aerolovers Dick

Well said Richard I agree with you. as for that other useless lump of ironmongery the vulcan bomber why don't they send that out too, it serves no useful purpose here only polluting the air with noise and fumes

Thank you to everybody who made this a brilliant weekend with their attendance and participation. Thank you to the ones that asked me to arrange it commencing on Wednesday, then didn’t show up, it was tranquil and uneventful being there on my own, seriously enjoyed the peace! Uneventful couldn’t describe the rest of the weekend, kites, kites and more kites…fantastic! Thanks Bow for the BBQ, seen in the photographs being completed with a generator and angle grinder…..where else but Sumners Ponds can you see this? EVERYONE mucked in with the BBQ and the Saturday night fireworks went down well, thanks Keith….and to all the people that said ‘keep the change towards the fireworks’ (went in MY pocket for next time, bud!)
WE got the blame from people on the campsite for the huge fireworks and rave (that went on till 4am) that was going on some miles away, they assumed it was us, but were corrected by the site owners who said ‘The Kite flyers are not like that, it wouldn’t be them’….. aren’t we are well respected?
Campers on site, locals and the site owners all came up to see the illuminated kite display in the evening, all in awe at the very unusual spectacle….
Selling kite flying to the public, you betchya!! Thanks again everybody.
PS. See above pics....if you have a Diesel powered vehicle...DONT...put petrol in it!
