I received the following e-mail this morning if anyone is interested please contact the e-mail address at the bottom of this mail.
Solar powered LED kites
It never seems to stop being amazing what technology can be added to kites to achieve a stunning result. It was only a few years ago that flyers were adding the odd light to a kite to make it visible at night, then it became 2 or 3 lights, now we have 40 or more LED lights powered by batteries that have programmable displays available which cause quite a stir when flown.
“Light Kites Carbon” have taken this technology one stage further and produced a ½” (12mm) diameter carbon based solar cell to power your lights when being flown. We feel that by removing the power cell and replacing with this light weight solar carbon will enable these kites to be flown in a greater wind range and allow flyers to have more fun. We have produced a sample batch of 20 finished kites using this solar carbon technology in the main cross spar for a 10’ delta and combined with 65 programmable high intensity LED’s making for a very colourful display. We would like to test these kites in the field before final commitment, on checking the Web we noticed that your club fly kites with lights at night and were wondering if you would be interested in carrying out some field trials over the coming season into the durability and effectiveness of the material. Final production, at present, is planned to start towards the end of 2011 with the final product being available to buy by April 2012
