Thanks to everyone who came, we managed to raise £62 for Children In Need, we also managed to raise hell and a few hair do's lol . It was one of the best weekends we have attended anywhere, beautiful weather, good company and great entertainment as well as Sonias' pakoras which went down a treat, thanks lovey. Keith managed to fly 'The Fury' on Saturday and the kite looked amazing, so a very big and humble thank you to all our friends that contributed and helped towards getting us back on our feet after our caravan was broken into, especially Tony for his kindness and thoughtfulness. Thanks again to everyone who came and made this a special weekend. P.S. Hopefully Trashman will have a count of how many kites we had in the sky for O.S.O.W Keith, Genie and Fury.

“What a blooming GREAT weekend” was virtually everybody’s parting words from this unusual double themed event. Most of us turned up on Friday and flew all day in glorious warm sunshine on the Saturday, once the sunshine filtered through and lifted the fog! Saturdays ‘light up the sky’ never took off, with kites anyway, due to a complete lack of wind, but boy did the sky light up! Dan lit the field with his 1000watt floodlight, Big John tried to illuminate the sky with his huge searchlight only to find it also was a flood light. Big John and Roy contributed with some superb fireworks purchased on the Friday to accompany the boxes Keith and I brought last November. From 7.30 to 8.30 there were non stop fireworks, rookies and maroons! Local Police and the CAA had been forewarned of ‘unusual’ things at that location in the evening as did the Campsite owner, so no complaints were received the next day. Phew, we live to play again!
Sunday was foggy till after midday when the sun finally lifted it, but there was barely any wind to fly a kite. Just like yesterday, everyone was ready to fly and waiting to put on a show but once again it never really happened. Individually and not all at the same time we managed to get 44 kites airborne, just! Not that we didn’t find other ways to amuse ourselves! I learnt about gravity, velocity, angles, and eating humble pie….and rocketry….there IS a very good reason for launching them at 90 degrees to the curvature of the earth! Other pastimes included R/C Helicopters large and small, various aircraft and sky-surfers, rockets, cars, boot sale, Genie collected £62 for Children in need, group photograph taken, Martin got his birthday cake … I really cant remember everything, it was a laugh. Evenings were unusually warm so we all congregated to eat together on Saturday and Sunday night, as a few stayed till Monday. Sonia cooking her ‘Pakoras’ and chilli that’s become quite popular since Kingsfold and Ardingly…the best 'get together' I have experienced this year.
The summary of what took place was a benchmark as to what like minded friends can accomplish when working together, and reaping the rewards of everyone’s individual input, the outcome was extremely enjoyable!! Thank you everyone for making it so much FUN! I know I have left a out a lot of details of other occurrences and who did what etc, please feel free to fill in the gaps….your viewpoint will be different to mine…
