The Easter Sunday celebrations for 2008 will fall on:
Easter Sunday 23 March 2008
However, please do note that this is the easter date for 2008 in the western calendar only.
Easter 2008 in the greek orthodox church will officially be on 27th April.
Who decides the Easter Date? To answer that question you must realise that Easter follows on from an older Jewish festival. The early church celebrated Easter on different days of the week, until 325 A.D. when the Easter Rule that "Easter shall be celebrated on the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after the vernal equinox" was adopted by the Council of Nicaea.
Easter Greetings and peaceful wishes to you all.
