Prior to dates of Margate Festival being announced, I told Big John that I would be going to Kingsfold.
I am going to Kingsfold!

Lindy is accident prone lets face it... ;D ;D (have I got the right Linda?)
Got it, reference to power cables+Carbon fibre kites do not mix! Agreed the Kingsfold flying field has electric cables all round, but flyable with care I think, lesson learnt from last year!
Insurance for us flying I have been told, is covered by the Festival organisers insurers.

Just to clarify Linda did not get a shock last year at Kingsfold. If she had it would have most likely killed her. A kite hit the power lines and the carbon shorted out two phases of the conductors. When this occurred the line attached to the kite touched Linda's head. Synthetic line is a good insulator, but if the line had been wet she would have been hit with 11K volts. This was caused by someone who should have known better, 1) flying over the HV power lines in the first place 2)nonchalantly winding his line in when his kite started going out of control. This was despite a shouted warning by yours truly. He seemed totally oblivious to the danger he had put Linda, himself and everyone else in
SO just to make people aware If you are going to Kinsfold the lines around the field carry 11000 volts 11000 volt power lines are not insulated and carbon is a very good conductor. 11000 volts will either kill you or badly burn you.
DO NOT FLY OVER THE POWER LINES

Could you not just tie your lines to Collin,s camper and not have to worry about 11kv ;D ;D

SHOCKING...and I thought your first posting was going to say "I'm going to Margate to help Mike and Linda"...but no, how kind and thoughtful of you to offer me 11000 volts for FREE....I like FREE but don't really need more of a Tan?
(notice my reference to MARGATE so as to stay on topic or get my behind tanned again!)
Have to admit that I too went over (and came down on) the power lines the day before that incident but with a Delta sparred with bamboo and flown with string, luckily mid afternoon and it was dry, early morning and the dew would have conducted the 11 killer volts (yes I know its the AMPS that fry you!).....I have been saving up to afford 'carbon fibre' spars and kevlar lines like the rest of you posh lot......Margate's got a sand on the beach, and power lines too see back on topic again....Cheers

Oh yes that what I wanted to say ;D I am going to Margate to help Michael & Linda, but if there is FREE hookup at your camper then perhaps I will change my mind. As every other thread seems to be have a pop at Collin I was not sure what to post first (perhaps you could write a quide) Time to start playing [glow=red,2,300]with[/glow] [shadow=red,left,300]all[/shadow] Iconsregards Dave
