If you take a look at the bbc videos you might notice that the volume switch goes up to 11 Contacting the BBC I was told that the reason is that "it's one louder". I then asked why not just make 10 that much louder. There was a long pause before I was replied with "These go to eleven!" ;D ;D ;D Cheers, Greenman

558 flew again today. She is now at Coningsby for the rest of the week. She is due to do some more test flights on Thursday or Friday. She's almost ready for the show season.

I see that it is due to be at Farnborough for the airshow, July 14 to 20th. Don't know if it will fly, and if so which days, yet. Keep an eye on www.farnboroughinternational.com

Farnborough yesterday, but I couldn't see it for the trees (literally) news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7502364.stmAfter rehearsal this morning the Red Arrows came streaming over the house to land Watched Fairford this afternoon on telly, and there they all were again! And the forecast for the Airshow at Farnborough next week: improving

After the cancellation of Fairford, remember Farnborough International is all this week But all the good (old) stuff will only be at Farnborough on Friday Saturday and Sunday www.farnborough.com/Site/Content/Exhibitors/DailyFlying.aspx Weather forecast for tomorrow is OK, rest of the week a bit iffy, but the weekend, who knows...

RHW, Short stuff & I went to Farnborough on Sunday. A really great day out. We got to see loads of planes. Airbus A380, Typhoon, F16, F18 to name a few. Best part of the day was watching the Vulcan take off, display & land. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D. What can I say, AWESOME.
DCW, thanks for the info & offer on the other thread. We decided to do it properly in the end.
Cheers, Greenman

Greetings, This afternoon at 1430 I was in the office at work in Downham Market when I heard the sound of an unusually loud aircraft. On looking out it transpired to be the Vulcan bomber flying directly overhead and quite low, it was heading towards RAF Marham which is 9 miles away. About 15 minutes later it retuned and did a 360 degree lap of the town with a Tornado on either side of it, it then flew off easterly towards Lowestoft where it is performing at the airshow.
I must say that I find it hard to see what all the fuss is about, it's a noisy old thing bellowing out trails of black smoke and reminding us all of an era when politicians played (and still do) the game of 'Iv'e got a bigger stick than you' For an aircraft that was only ever used once and then missed it certainly seems to attract a lot of attention!
The vis. is really good this afternoon and with two tornado's to accompany it, it shoud find Lowestoft easier then Port Stanley!
Let's all hope it is better differentiating between the sea and the sky then the harrier was 4 years ago!
Best regards Aerolover's Dick ( See you tomorrow at Dover)

Hey, a similar thing happened to me!!
This afternoon at 1430 I was in the yard at work in Crawley when I heard the sound of an unusually loud clinking of bottles. On looking out it transpired to be a courier with a wooden box, marked delicate?
Enquiring about its contents I was told it contained some bottles of 30 Year Glenfiddich Old Malt whisky, Taylors 30 Year Old Tawny Port, Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum (63% vol) and vintage Sherrys.
"Someone having a BBQ?" I innocently asked.
"Sir" he replied "you have no taste or appreciation for quality, a carefully aged and unrepeatable bit of history is bottled in these, a connoisseur has paid handsomely for these and will appreciate and savour every little sip."
"Oh, er....cant see what all the fuss is about, I'm a Fosters man myself" I replied, and went back to my Lidl's cuppa tea and pastie...
Kind Regards Malt bathers, Collin PS Nice one Dick, I wished we could have changed places today!! ;D ;D ;D

Dick ( See you tomorrow at Dover) Missed Port Stanley ruway, I dont think so. It flew 4,000 miles, the longest maned bombing mission ever. It hit the runway with a 1000lb bomb. It closed Port Stanley Airfield. So that our boys could get out there and free British citizens from an invading dictatorship. I think you touched a nerve there, dont you.
