Brighton Kite Festival is a free public event not to be missed and brings some interesting shapes, sizes and colour to Stanmer Park that would not normally be seen there.
It is one, if not the longest, running kite festivals in the UK and is fast approaching its 35th consecutive event on the 13th & 14th July 2013 in Stanmer Park, Brighton. BN1 9QA and will run from 11.00am – 5.00pm
We are planning some amazing shows for you this year from world class flyers of all forms of kites from beautifully made miniature single line kites through some of the best team displays you will ever see. Stamner Park postcode: BN1 9QA

Good question RHW,
Kite Workshop Manky has indicated that team ElF would possibly help run the kite workshop, it would be helpfull if there was some spare hands willing just to help out where needed.
Kite Traders There will be a selection of kite traders on site trading all day with a great and varied range of kites to suit all ages. windrushkites
Raffle section. this needs looking at this year in terms of lay out to attract more sales, maybe make the raffle area a bit more accessible to the public, so they can get a closer look at the goodies. Maybe some idea on the way forward with this could be useful.
Food Traders. I think there are adequate food traders booked this year including the ice cream man. the Cider man is still TBC.
Added Attractions. The fun fair is coming and AR is looking at a climbing wall attraction.
Any other attractions. All ideas are good ideas, but the club cannot out lay financially towards anyone that wants to attend.
I would imagine help will again be required setting the arena out, putting signs up settling site security in place on the Friday.
Arena Displays. Again it would be good if we could get members to fly in the arena, we have all made kites why not show them off.
Display kites. If anyone wants to help fly the inflatables, please let us know, even with limited experience on the big inflatables help is always required, (providing you do not drop a penguin, hey Alan!)
Remember it's your Festival and any help you can give would be greatly appreciated, even if it's keeping the kettle hot!
If anyone has any ideas on fund raising ideas, to help towards the cost of running next years festival now is the time to start thinking and voicing ideas.
I look forward to hearing from you!

HELP FUND 2014 BRIGHTON KITE FESTIVAL
Are there any members out there who are willing to give 1 or more old kite/kites that they don’t fly anymore to a kite sale? We will sell kites; line, ground stakes, off cuts of ripstop etc. (Must be second hand as we don't want to upset our traders).
Greeman and I will run the stall at the 2013 festival and all proceeds will go to BKF festival fund 2014.
We will open the stall away from the main traders down in the crew camping area.
You must have kites, tails, ground stakes that you just don’t use anymore. Put them to good use by helping to fund next year’s festival.
If we don’t think differently we won’t change. If we don’t change, then we won’t have a festival for much longer.
Cheers, RHW

I know we have quite a few books on kite flying and making that have been given to the club. We could also sell peoples bigger item perhaps those they dont want but need to get some money for by selling them for a persentage

I think helping set up the arena and some help in the childrens workshop would be great, flying kites in the arena to help fill out the day maybe required i'm sure we all have something extra in the bag we never had last year. Setting the festival raffle up maybe someone could take that on . Making sure the traders park and set up in the correct areas. There is nothing major, but these jobs if taken can allow for any un forseen things to be dealt with. Perhaps Simon could write a more definitive list so everyone can see and put a name to something. Thankyou to those that have replied on this thread. Tony.

We have found a few things ourselves but if others don't come forward to suport the endeavour then we will all loose out in the future. Anything you have will help. If you dont want to give stuff away, then we will sell stuff for you if you like, 10% commision to the club. All goods will be sale or return. I need to know by the end of the month if this is going ahead or not. We are not opening a fund raising stall with 6 items on it. Cheers, Greenman & RHW p.s. Can we sell the BKF library? It's been in my loft for 5 years and in Paul's garage for a few years before that. In all that time no one has asked to borrow any of it.

If I knew what was in the library I might well want to borrow something! Is there a list?

There doesn't seem to be any restriction on what can be attached when you make a post so give it a go! That way everyone can access it - although perhaps it might be better if you posted it in the members area.

Andrew and I will need help staffing the BKF tent on both days of the festival. If you are able to spend an hour or so on the desk answering questions, selling raffle tickets, T-shirts, pins, etc, please let us know.
Many thanks S
