Greetings Dave, I have some and you are welcome to a metre and I will bring it to Teston. I received it today from Sligo in Ireland having bought it from E-bay, it is 9cm wide and is sold for sail repairs. It is 7 1/2 thou thick ordinary black Dacron is 9 thou so it is slightly thinner but still excellent especially as white Dacron is virtually impossible to obtain in Britain though I would expect Volango in Germany might keep it, If you want to send for some here is the e-bay number. 150361905955 Regards Dick

Hello, I'm new here.
I've seen the stuff on EBAY, it looks a good enough price, I wanted to know if it cuts down to smaller widths OK? and is it any good for any good for spar pockets?

Greetings Highbeech, The white Dacron on E-bay is fine and will cut with a hot knife or can be easily cut with scissors or a knife and a soldering iron ran along the cut edge to seal it.
It is perfectly OK for making spar pockets but you will need to double fold it length ways so the open edge of the pocket where you insert the spar is double, otherwise it will eventually fray even if heat sealed.
Best Regards and welcome to the forum.

Thanks Dick
I always double the pockets if that are tabs in the corners, if these are, or if it is a leading edge on say a delta, I fold so that fold is the L/E I also fold back the open end where you insert the spar by about 2 inches.
Or are you saying that because it is a lighter grade material than we might normally use, I should use it doubled, so since it is 90 mm inches wide , fold in half, that in half again you end up with a pocket 22.5 mm wide (which what I usually have any way)
hey it is cheaper enough I should probably just get some and give it a go.
